Le flûtiste et chef d'orchestre allemand Uwe Grodd vit en Nouvelle Zélande Il s'est produit dans le monde entier et effectué de nombreux enregistrements. Il a notamment dirigé le gala d'ouverture du Händel Festival Halle en Allemagne en 2003 avec "Le Choeur des Musiciens du Louvre" en ouverture d'une saison consacrée à Haendel et à la redécouverte de l'opéra Imeneo. Il a également dirigé le premier enregistrement de la Missa Solemnis de J. N. Hummel avec le New Zealand Symphony Orchestra. Uwe Grodd est fondateur et directeur artistique du Flute Fest New Zealand (2001 – 2004). Il enseigne également la direction et la flûte à l'université d'Auckland.
