Andreas Scholl a débuté sa carrière de chanteur dans le Kiedriche Korbuben, choeur masculin dont la tradition date de six cent cinquante ans.
Entre 1987 et 1993, il étudie avec Richard Levitt et René Jacobs à la Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, où il obtient un diplôme de musique ancienne.
En 1992, il est récompensé par le Conseil Européen et la fondation Nicolas Ledoux. Il est également diplômé de la fondation Ernst Göhner et de l'association Migros. Il a participé à de nombreux concerts et enregistré à maintes occasions pour Sony et Harmonia Mundi (France et Allemagne), notamment sous la direction de chefs comme William Christie (Les Arts Florissants), Konrad Junghänel, René Jacobs (Concerto Vocale), John Eliot Gardiner (Choeur Monteverdi), Philippe Herreweghe (Collegium Vocale), Sigiswald Kuijken (La Petite Bande), Christophe Rousset, Paul Mc Creesh.
Il s’est produit dans de très nombreux Festivals et tournées dans l’Europe entière, et s’est affronté aux grandes œuvres du répertoire baroque (Messie de Haendel, Passion selon Saint Jean et Messe en si de J.-S. Bach, etc.). Son enregistrement du Stabat Mater de Vivaldi avec l’ensemble 415 pour Harmonia Mundi lui a valu les plus grands éloges et le prix baroque vocal des Gramophone Awards en 1996.
En 1998, il signe un contrat d’exclusivité avec Decca et fait des débuts éblouissants sur la scène lyrique dans le rôle de Bertarido (Rodelinda) au Festival de Glyndebourne ; vient ensuite le rôle-titre de Salomon de Haendel.Andreas Scholl est considéré comme le meilleur contre-ténor actuel |
